Wiring Harness & Integration Engineer
Careers / Powertrain
About Pluto
Pluto engineers scooter-sized vehicles purpose-built for last-mile delivery, carrying 2× more orders than conventional two-wheelers.
About the Role
Define, design, integrate, and validate vehicle wiring harness architecture across power distribution, grounding, signal routing, communication, and physical integration.
Responsibilities
- Define end-to-end wiring architecture for vehicle systems including power distribution, grounding strategy, signal routing, and communication.
- Create harness schematics, connection diagrams, splice plans, fuse allocation, relay allocation, and detailed design packages.
- Size wires and select terminals, connectors, seals, and protective coverings based on electrical and mechanical requirements.
- Design harness breakouts, branch lengths, connector orientations, and retention features.
- Work with CAD and mechanical teams to route harnesses within the vehicle CAD environment.
- Ensure compliance with bend radius, strain relief, clip locations, waterproofing, abrasion protection, and serviceability requirements.
- Validate harness fitment during prototype builds and support on-ground build activities.
- Identify and qualify harness vendors, connector suppliers, fuse boxes, terminals, and protective component suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier prototypes and drive design feedback, manufacturing drawings, and process alignment.
- Define and execute validation tests for continuity, insulation resistance, signal integrity, current loading, voltage drop, and thermal behavior.
- Debug ground loops, intermittent contacts, short circuits, sensor noise, CAN communication faults, and EMI or EMC issues.
- Maintain harness drawings, BoMs, wiring schematics, documentation, and revision history.
Requirements
- B.E. or B.Tech in Automotive, Electrical, Electronics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience building, validating, and executing wiring harnesses for electric 2W or 3W platforms.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems.
- Experience with EV systems such as batteries, BMS, MCU, DC-DC converters, and chargers.
- Ability to design wiring schematics, connection diagrams, harness architectures, and routing strategies.
- Knowledge of power distribution, grounding strategy, signal routing, EMI/EMC considerations, and CAN communication wiring.
- Understanding of load calculations, voltage drop analysis, current carrying capacity, and derating.
- Hands-on ability to build prototype harnesses through stripping, crimping, terminating, and splicing.
- Skilled in using crimp tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, continuity testers, and related debugging tools.
- Experience with harness installation, routing, clipping, securing, and troubleshooting on physical vehicles.
- Strong communication, vendor coordination, debugging, and root-cause analysis skills.
