About the Role
Own Pluto's vehicle assembly process and help set up a scalable production floor from part receiving to final vehicle rollout.
Responsibilities
- Define the complete vehicle assembly process from part receiving to final vehicle rollout
- Create assembly stations, process flow, inventory management, work sequence, tools, fixtures, and manpower requirements
- Develop clear work instructions for operators and validate each station before it goes live
- Help set up the assembly area, workstation layout, material movement, storage, and WIP flow
- Define station-wise requirements for tooling, jigs, fixtures, safety, and ergonomics
- Build quality checkpoints at critical stages of assembly
- Define inspection checklists for mechanical, electrical, electronics, and firmware-related assembly steps
- Track defects, identify root causes, and close corrective actions
- Define station-wise kits, part presentation, and traceability for critical parts and assemblies
- Coordinate with sourcing and stores to avoid line stoppages
- Coordinate engineering change implementation with engineering teams
- Update work instructions, tools, fixtures, kits, and process documents when design changes affect assembly
- Maintain short-term production readiness plans for upcoming vehicle builds
- Identify risks related to parts, tooling, process gaps, and manpower
- Resolve shop-floor issues through hands-on investigation and improve the process using defects, delays, and operator feedback
Requirements
- 4-6 years of hands-on experience in automotive, EV, mechanical-electrical, machinery, or similar assembly environments
- Experience setting up or improving an assembly process
- Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, wiring harness fitment, electrical/electronics integration, and basic firmware flashing or calibration processes
- Familiarity with torque checks, crimping quality, connector routing, waterproofing practices, and end-of-line checks
- Ability to create work instructions, inspection checklists, and basic process documentation
- Comfortable spending most of the time on the shop floor
- Strong technical judgment and ability to identify the right trade-offs between speed, quality, and feasibility
- Ability to work closely with engineering, sourcing, stores, and operators
- Ownership mindset for vehicle assembly outcomes end-to-end
